Tα greeklish βλάπτουν σοβαρά την ορθογραφία
Greek article about the impact of “greeklish” on the spelling skills of teenagers (or even younger children).
Greeklish is a written “language” using Greek words but with the English alphabet (eg. orthografia instead of ορθογραφία). It is mostly used on computers and over the Internet to avoid the so annoying (!) language change (Alt-Shift).
According to the article research has shown that teenagers have started using greeklish even on pen&paper!!
Overall it’s just another reason why less and less people know how to properly spell Greek words, let alone proper grammar. It’s sad.
